This is the title track for a VR game called Bitmap Banshee created by The Dept For New Realities in Amsterdam. I composed and produced the track around the incredible vox talent of Jenufa Gleich.
A low-budget music video for singer / songwriter Charlie Hilton I did with my friend Jim Olofsson. The actors are friends as well, Lily and Ariel. We listened to the song and came up with a loose idea of a love story. But like, a missed connection kind of thing set in this text(ing) based culture of ours... We wanted the ending to be mysterious / and / or a bummer because dating in Los Angeles so often is! enjoy :)

Goals are hard work. Whether you want to read more books, learn a new language or work out regularly, it's getting harder and harder to find the time even when your goal really matters to you. So today we're introducing Goals in Google Calendar.

Super Bowl XLIX. TurboTax wanted to make a big splash, crane some necks and ruffle a few bald eagle feathers as well as announce to all of America (and lets admit it, the whole world) that they are prepared to let you file for FREE (yes, free free)... This is quite simply the best thing to happen to taxes since... well, you know.
I designed this book of drawings by the talented actor / artist Alia Shawkat for L.A. based art book publisher Dilletante Paper. We wanted to establish a design template for what is to be a series of book by Dilettante called Duende. The idea we fell on involves using a cover image supplied by the artist and defacing it with a crimson brush stroke, as seen here... Each subsequent book in the series will have a cover image 'defaced' in this way, creating a unique identity for the series that incorporates the presence of the artist.
This was made for SUBBACULTCHA! magazine in Amsterdam as part of their ongoing series of live events. It is an ode to the ancient myth of the Harmony of the Spheres and the power of cosmic vibrations.

TurboTax has only one natural predator: H&R Block. And whereas the Block was urging people to 'Get your Billion Back' (or something like that) we wanted to look beyond what was obvious about taxes (money) and get to the heart of what your year in taxes really represents: Your Life.
So, following on 2014's The Year of the You campaign (TTX First campaign), we created a series of spots that show that no matter how crazy your life gets, doing your taxes is always just as easy as answering a few simple questions.
And yes, that is William H. Macy.
I still keep desktop folders full of images I pull off of the internet but when I first started working at W+K Amsterdam back in 2010, I used to periodically use the folders to make these short montages. I would just step-sequence them in AE and throw a song on top, it would take about 10 minutes. I called them EVERYTHING I SAW ON THE INTERNET TODAY. Even though the images were collected over the course of a month or so. Theres lots of photos I took myself in there as well as drawings. I still love watching them.
This is a children's book I wrote and illustrated. It is a magical interpretation of the beautiful city of Amsterdam. There is a surprise ending!
Take a look at the original drawings here.

Woodford Reserve is an old and very well respected Bourbon from Kentucky. Well known for people who know bourbon that is. The mission here was to elevate and energize the brand but at the same time maintain a timeless sense of masculine / feminine mystic.
Moonface is the name of a band in Iceland. Their label, Jagjaguar in Brooklyn, NYC, asked me to make a video for them so I used it as an opportunity to pull out this old VHS camera I have. This was all shot in the Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam gym after work during a weekday. The girl is my friend and local artist Lucy Mcrae, she got me hooked on kickboxing as well.

Coke teamed up with Spotify to create an app call Placelists which allows you to attach specific songs and playlists to geographic locations. What we did was focus on Real Teens.
"Real Teens, Real Music, Real Magic, this is why Coke is still the Real Thing."
We cast two large groups of real teens (non-actors). One a Spanish speaking group and the other Americans all living in Barcelona. We followed them for two weeks, crafting short documentary stories about the important role that music plays in their lives before having them all converge on a fantasy beach bonfire party where two lovers (one from each camp) meet and... well, you'll just have to watch the spot.
Interesting fact: This is actually the very first Global Coke Ad to feature an inter-racial love story.

Lyall Coburn is a filmmaker from South Africa who lived between Paris and Amsterdam the last few years. He made this film in Hawaii and asked me to make the music for it.
These are images from the AFTER LAND, a science-fiction soap opera featuring the exploits of a no-nonsense detective named NONO who is actually a composite of two female humans named JO and DO. JO, has the mysterious ability to ingest the milk from the Madeleine Flower and enter an ethereal realm known as PURE INTUITION where she can spy on the unconscious minds of all of humanity. JO shares this information with DO and together, as NONO, they sell it to the highest bidder in the CLOUD...

Heineken Light is what you might expect: Heineken with less alcohol and less calories. Our idea was to challenge the idea that a light beer was less of a beer then others by positioning it as a conduit for wild, creative, stream-of-consciousness energy. Like the flow of an inspired rap artist, a jazz drummer, a beat poet... It is to be possessed by the desire to act and take part but still maintain a significant sense of self control, focus and clarity. Key features of a product with significantly less alcohol and calories. The campaign involved a series of secret parties throughout a variety of host cities with collaborations with young rap and spoken-word artists who could bring to life the concept of flow. BOUNCE.
These are the qualities expressed in our manifesto (see film at bottom):
Be surprise. Be the unexpected playmate. The checkmate.
The spaces between the beats of a jazz drum solo.
The flame from a candle perched on the alter of your ultimate hero, flickering, fluttering and dancing to the rhythm of an invisible band-o.
Be an Amazon in the Glamazon.
Be the lord of the land, wearing day-glow electric spats, stealing kisses and making eye contact with cats.
Be a moonwalking moon-ray on a sundancing Sunday.
Design the show and make the sidewalk a runway.
Be the wishbone from a fishbone and play those scales all over town like a neon rainbow rodeo clown.
Be top shelf.
Be a gourmet buffet and abstract express yourself.
Book the suite and invite the band.
Kick it old school.
Belly flop the infinity pool.
Feed thebirds but mind the gap.
Your birthmark is a treasure map.
Be a cosmic freelance high-wire rain-dance.
Conjure, capture and create. This is your opening night. So be fashionably late.
Comb your hair, pull up your socks because opportunity doesn’t knock. It rocks.

Composer Christina Vantzou asked a community of artists to create a musical score without relying on any form of traditional musical notation. Upon receiving the score, Vantzou conducted a string ensemble to perform it. This video is a combination of the score I created along with the recording of the ensemble performing it. It was the first time I had ever heard it aloud.
"Garden by the Sea" is the name of a series of large multi-media drawings I completed during my sabbatical during the spring of 2013.
A lot of agency's are full of dead work. Things so brilliant, so inspired and original that the world just wasn't ready for them yet. At W+K Amsterdam the creatives always had a surplus of said work, especially brand manifestos. Not wanting to see this good writing go to waste I created a band called MANIFESTO that turned old brand manifestos into lyrics for songs. This is the first 'video', an introduction really...

I started SHOP TALK as a simple, lo-fi video platform that was intended as a convenient outlet for all the weird and unclassified creative energy lurking throughout the W+K agency. "Talking Shop" is a term popular in the west and it simply refers to any conversation having to do with what you do for work. Initially filmed on a green screen and assembled hastily in After Effects, the latest episodes show the direction I want the series to move in which is to frame segments of unscripted reality that take place in a work environment. As I continue to grow as a working creative so to will SHOP TALK. So stay tuned for more...

This was the first big spot I worked on at W+K Amsterdam. Initially NOKIA wasn't interested in a TVC until they saw the mood video I made which you can find below. My original video used footage from Godard's film "Film Socialisme", people doing everyday normal things but in fast forward...

I made these little videos for the Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam website. They are meant to be hidden amongst the regular content and periodically pop out at you in order to give you a little 'WTF?' kind of moment. We could all use more of those 'WTF?' kinds of moments. There are about 30 of them altogether which can all be found here.

THRONEBOOGIE is the name I used during the year of freelance work I did after I left VICE Magazine in NYC. I had a studio in Brooklyn where I was making music videos, animation, illustration, design... I even started doing some web design because the "Recession" was still such a heavy thing (it probably still is) and so everyone wanted a website to pimp themselves up. I was making music under this name too all with the awkward rationale that if, one day, I wanted to go 'straight' I could ditch it and just go by my own name. I think it was inspired by the band WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, even though I was never really into them. This is a motion graphics reel from around that time.
This is a draft of a children's story I made. The Land of the Pickle People is an imaginative interpretation of the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

This was the first big project I worked on after leaving VICE Magazine in NYC back in 2009. I wrote, directed and produced this 10 minute music video for a Canadian band called Sunset Rubdown. The whole thing was shot with RED on my parent's horse farm in Alberta, Canada with a young girl from the neighborhood named Becky who was an amazing rider.
The first thing i did when I showed up at W+K Amsterdam in 2010 was to build an online store called THE SHOP. It was this funny little place where we could sell any number of hand-made or locally sourced items from as little as € 1.00 up to € 3000. Items included anything from peanuts, comic books, cookbooks and customized clothing. We also had a number of creative professionals for sale amongst them a local digital agency called Champagne Valentine (they were friends of mine) as well as a line of home-made weapons constructed from materials found around the office; coffee cups, ping-pong paddles, leather gloves... In the SHOP's hey-day we were shipping said items to customers all over the world. But then we got bored and transformed THE SHOP into a series of videos called SHOP TALK...
The Camino de Santiago is an ancient pilgrimage through northern Spain. I walked the 900 klm of the popular Camino Frances route earlier this spring. This is a short film I made using the photographs I took along the way. I also made the music. Enjoy!

bwin approached W+K to create a TVC that showcases their product, an online betting interface, as well as portrays the emotional intensity of online betting. We had access to members of the Real Madrid Football team, so we went down to Madrid for a few days and shot this.
I created the musical soundtrack for this film by Anita Fontaine for Beefeater Gin London.
I began working at VICE Magazine in Brooklyn, NYC in 2007 as an intern and quickly worked my way into a full time position. In addition to traditional layout, illustration and poster / flyer design I also did a lot of video editing and motion graphic work which can be seen here. I really loved working there.
This is a 7 minute long music video I made for a Canadian band called Sunset Rubdown. I shot everything at my girlfriend's apt in Brooklyn and assembled it all in After Effects.
This is some motion graphics work I did when I was at VICE Magazine in NYC. Motherboard was a show dedicated to science and technology, sponsored by DELL.
